Amal

drunk in tea with a mild coffee
keeping watch in this dimly lit table,
our wooden boat gently sails
to unknown meadows
in the dark

every sip is wisdom drained,
a longing for what is,
what was, and
what will be

throughout the night
did I fall asleep
between the flowers and the moon
drowning in ecstasy unknown
three days, felt like forever!

say something
and my heart leaps with joy
entertain me with your
thoughtful silence
embrace me with your
motherly smile
for home, is not far away

summer’s tune humming down
autumn’s wind rushes in
friends’ unwanted depart.

* * *

sing, recite, roll and smile
take me back to the Kinder-
garden, where flowers dance
in midday sun, and voices
sing with unending melodies

cast down your little dreams,
let your forehead kiss the ground
draw from this borehole of humility
for truth, is a bottomless sea

taste the silence of living waters
quench the ever-troubling thirst,
for shyness speaks
with a brightening smile,
every word
is sparkly and serene
flowing in ageless purity.
A moon reflected in water,
A flower floating in the sky.

* * *

guard the glowing light within
keep watch, five times a day
for eternity hangs in daily prayer
and paradise is worth more
than a dime!

Alhamdulillah!
